Who's the coolest culinary celebrity?
Beyond a doubt, Julia Child. In fact, there wouldn't even BE culinary celebrities without her breaking ground with her cooking shows which changed the way that generations ate and thought about food. Julia, I raise my glass to you: bon appetit! Heaven is eating a lot better these days!
What gift from a parent do you remember the most?

My stuffed koala bear, Katie, that I got for my 6th birthday. She inspired my passion for Australia, and my love of travel in general. Katie has been everywhere with me. Canada. Mexico. France. Every cross-country road (and train) trip I've ever taken. My dear Katie, a little worse for the wear, will be celebrating her 30th birthday on the 19th, while she'll be on vacation with me (celebrating my 36th birthday) down at Deep Creek, MD.
What would you consider to be your 15 minutes of fame so far in life?
Personally, it was getting the chance to play Sister Robert Ann in Nunsense I & II for the local community productions back in 1993. They were seen by so many people, I constantly had strangers asking me, "Aren't you..." when I waited on them at the bookstore where I worked at the time. It was both really embarrassing and really cool :)
Professionally, it was pretty awesome when our company was written up for the October 2006 issue of Smart Money magazine, along with several other companies who are blazing trails in the internet art market.
What was your favorite road-trip of all time?

Cross country from Pittsburgh to Richland, WA back in July 1992. So many magical things on that trip. All of the hippies sharing a single pair of Birkenstocks to use the rest area as they followed the Grateful Dead from Pittsburgh to Chicago in their caravan of VW buses. Seeing Chicago for the first time. And the Mississippi. The dustcroppers practically dive-bombing I-80 as we drove into Iowa. Des Moinse rising up out of the corn fields like the Emerald City. The putrid smell of the feedlots in Nebraska. Dinner at the Calvaryman. Pretty much the entire state of Wyoming. The Joshua Tree, at full blast, as we drove 90 miles an hour across the continental divide. Seeing the Great Salt Lake. Great red land masses that looked like something out of a Road Runner cartoon. Taco Bell in Boise.
Of course, by Idaho, it was getting to be a bit much. And by the time we rolled into Kennewick and then Richland proper, I was in tears and wanted to go home. Except, of course, I was home. At least for a few years until I came to my senses and moved back East. But ah, the road trip itself, I will never forget. Thank you, David.
If you could eat only 3 foods for the rest of your life, what would they be?

Soup, pizza, and salad, because there is infinite variety contained within those subsets and hey, it's pretty much my non-dessert / non-breakfast diet anyhow. If I had to limit it to just one thing, it would be soup. Cheesecake gets tiresome after a while, but I could eat nothing but soup for weeks on end. Particularly if the recipe is a variation of any of the ones found in this book:
What's the longest boat ride you've ever been on?
I've done a few chartered fishing trips in my day that latest several hours, but I think in terms of pure distance, it would probably be the ferry ride between Anacortes, WA and Friday Harbour in the San Juan Islands. I love me the WA State Ferries something fierce. And I hope to have a summer home in the San Juans (and my own seaplane) one of these years. While I never finished training for my private pilot's license, I always wanted to try water landings. Wait. This was supposed to be about boats, lol. Yeah, I love me the WA State Ferries something fierce.
Who are the last five people you called on your cell phone?
My best friend, my mom, my sister, the electric company during Tuesday's storm-related blackout, and a company we're partnered with. So exciting, eh?
What are your top 10 most-played songs currently?
It's been a while since I've looked and it seems I've been in a melacholy/emo kind of mood musically for the past few months, listening almost exclusively to Sigur Ros/Elbow/Sting when working (when I am actually able to listen to my music while working, that is. The toddler usually drowns me out and I tend to give up on listening to my own thing).
1) Takk by Sigur Ros
2) Powder Blue by Elbow
3) Any Day Now by Elbow
4) Glosoli by Sigur Ros
5) Synchronicity I by The Police
6) Hoppipolla by Sigur Ros
7) Se Lest by Sigur Ros
8) Sinner by Neil Finn
9) Saeglopour by Sigur Ros
10) Bitten by the Tailfly by Elbow
I fully expect some songs from Sting's Songs from the Labyrinth to start showing up in that top playlist soon, and I suspect the only reason it isn't there now is that I've simply had "Takk," Asleep in the Back," and "Synchronicity" longer.
What's the weirdest baby name you've ever heard (or considered)?
Back in college, I seriously considered the name "Acorn."
How many TVs do you have in your house?
3; one on each floor of our house. But where do we watch the most tv? On one of our 7 computer monitors ;)
