Yes, it's December and I have been a-rushing to complete things that have been owed throughout the year. My dear friend Alissa posed some meme questions to me right before I went out to San Francisco earlier year, and I didn't have time to do them at the time, and the poor things have been collecting dust in my inbox, waiting to be answered. Well, since I am procrastinating from finishing my Christmas cards, I might as well do something quasi-useful with that time, lol. So this one's for you, Alissa!

1. If you could live any moment in your life over again, what would it be? (Or *would* you?)

My wedding day was very chaotic. I didn't get to do everything I wanted to do that day, nor did I get to spend enough time with people that mattered to me. (Plus the caterer screwed up a few details that could have been corrected if I could have made it to the museum as planned before the ceremony to catch the errors, lol.) So I think I would pick that day, if only to have the chance to take a few more pictures and dance with my great-aunt again.

2. You're an artist. How much has your life been shaped by art and by your creative mind?

I'd say it's shaped everything from the friends I've had, to the places I've been, to whom I married, to what I do for a living. It also impacts the way I raise my children. Everything in my life has been through a filter of art specifically and experiencing culture in general.

3. Are you now where you thought you'd be ten years ago? What parts of your life are still "under construction"? (Sorry. Two questions in one!)

The short and simple answer? No. Among other things, I thought I'd be married to an entirely different person and working in academia! That being said, I don't think there's any question I ended up where I'm supposed to be and living my life calling. Ten years ago was actually a very formative year for me that changed everything and refocused my life so I could be prepared for where I am now.

As to what parts of my life are still "under construction" I'd say self-discipline is still a huge issue. I have a great talent for dropping balls. I think tackling this issue definitively would make a huge improvement in the quality of my life.

4. If you could hand-pick any one place to live in where would it be?

That's a harder question than it sounds like. My mind goes back to my time as an exchange student in Paris, or where all of my tech-compadres are in the Silly-con Valley, or my lifelong dream to live in Australia, or my hopes to retire to a private little island in Puget Sound. It still all comes back to Pittsburgh. When it's all said and done, I'm an East End girl and probably always will be. Give me a house in Squirrel Hill or Fox Chapel any day!

There you have it. A quick and dirty meme. And I must say it feels good to check off one more thing from this year's todo list. Now, time to get back to those Christmas cards!
